Great Wall Tea Shop

May 21st, 2011

Design: Marianne Amodio Architecture Studio
Client: Great Wall Tea Shop, Vancouver
Date: 2010

A great solutions to a difficult space, narrow with a large wall. In response the designers created a magnetic wall to store the 565 metal tea tins (with graphic tea cup decaled lids), and a tailored length long walnut table and high chairs for customers to enjoy a warm sip.

I have had the pleasure of visiting this shop in New Westminster and the wall is stunning. I used to love looking at my grandmother’s collection of china tea cups and this reminds me of that happy pursuit. The colours of the tea in the photos, the rich ambers, reds and greens are warm and inviting. Visit it in person if you can, the tea is fantastic, too.
