Hmm, surprised that this did not make your “Gong Show” category.
I got this as a present last year (I am a design student and my parents are a little clueless) and after gagging on the cover, only got a few pages in before deciding to return it (The recipe for a Karimtini was a little much).
When I went to the book store the lady laughed and suggested that I look in their sales bin. After multiple returns, all ten copies the store had ordered were in there for 75% off.
Celebrity designers, who needs them?

No kidding! I hear a very loud gong going off in my mind.
Me and my girlfriend flipped through this book, and just howled at it’s dribble and shallow content. If this was sold as comedy, it would be a best seller. Sold as design, not so much.
Hilarious, this puppy is the landmark of Rashid’s decline into the past. He just is proving himself to be out of step with the times, and unable to move into the future.

There is this tendency in designers to think that they can do and be all parts of the design industry (Graphics, product, etc), and Rashid obviously a believer in this idea. All though sound in theory, it rarely pans out in practice, designers are drawn to areas that fit their training and desire.
A note to Rashid, this cover is absolutely awful (and from the above comments, the content is to). Be a genuine collaborator, shed the ego and hire a book, type, graphic, and textile designer next time, it will definitely save you some embarrassment. A faux Louis Vuitton Rashid symbol pattern, a profile of your own face, really? I judged the book by its cover and never bothered to pick it up.
Collins, the publisher, should be spanked for putting this out into the public. It will undermine any of their efforts to be a publishing house for design.
Thanks for the chance to speak up CDR.

ps – I will be using this for my design students as an example of what not to do in design.

Whoa, what decade was this produced in? It feels like a left over from the early nineties. DJ Kreemy wake up, you are stuck in ’93!

Ok, ok!
Thank you, I hear your comments (only a third of which I can put on the site, most were just mean) and will add this piece to the gong show category.

Note to myself – I promise to get some of Rashid’s good stuff up to the CDR asap.
