A vendors disposable cup from the Expo ’67 ground, this is an unintentional souvenir, in that it was not designed to be kept. Coca Cola is an unusual company, it produces its own swag and highly collectible souvenirs but this waxed paper cup is fragile and very rare (most were binned).

This may look familiar – we’ve had another version of this lighter posted on the CDR for more than a year, but this one has lovely detailing that works really well with the circular Expo67 logo. That said, I suspect that the graphics have simply been applied to an existing lighter, as is the norm today. However, I’d really like to know for sure.
The bottom is marked “Fisher, © 1963 Expo 67, Japan”.

This is one of the great print ads from Expo 67 marketing blitz. Printed in American magazines, it played off the major theme of the cold war, USA vs Russia, taunting the American audience to get to the Expo and check in on the Russian building project. A little dark but extremely witty and smart.
