The winning concept by was inspired by local artistic, cultural and technological landmarks, as well as Canada’s emblem for its form and colour. The final selection was made by the management of Grand Prix du Canada with F1 officials. The trophy was awarded to British driver Jenson Button of McLaren Mercedes, who completed the 70 laps around Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in 4:04:39.537.

“The wedding of Princess Elizabeth to Philip Mountbatten on November 20, 1947, was commemorated by both British and Canadian Post Offices. Since the wedding announcement was made on July 9, 1947, the British Post Office did not issue a commemorative stamp because there was insufficient time to prepare an issue. Instead, a slogan postmark was made for use from November 20 to the end of November. The Canadian Post Office issued a commemorative stamp for the wedding, but only after the event, in February, 1948.”

Approved by the Queen herself, these Royal Wedding Commemorative stamps will be issued on April 29, the actual wedding day of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Interestingly, there was not a stamp issued, despite all the hype, for Charles and Diana’s wedding. The last Canada Post stamp commemorating a royal wedding was issued in 1948 to honour of the nuptials of the Queen and Prince Philip, the current groom’s grandparents. I suppose this has something to do with the certainty that William will eventually be King and his first born, the next heir to the throne.

Royal Wedding Mania memorabilia has officially hit Canada. The Royal Canadian Mint has unveiled a $20 pure silver coin (with a sapphire-coloured Swarovski crystal embedded to represent the sapphire in the bride’s engagement ring, which was previously owned by Princess Diana) and a 25-cent coloured steel collector coin. Engraved on the silver coin’s edge are the names of the bride and groom (in French and English).

The store front to the Instant Theatre company, a independent theatre offering classes and shows that celebrate improv. The Instant Shop sells souvenirs and provide a hang out for fans (including a table soccer). This is a fantastic design and a perfect wrapper for the brand of the theatre.
