Tulip with Ladybug 25¢

April 18th, 2012

Created to celebrate the friendship between Holland and Canada and to mark the tulips from Holland that bloom in Ottawa, the home of the world’s largest tulip festival. In 1945-46, Holland presented over 100,000 prized tulip bulbs to Canada in thanks for Canada’s efforts in liberating Holland during the Second World War. This is the first coin to feature a glass relief.

The Royal Canadian Mint leads the world with its proprietary colorization technology, in which the color is actually sealed on the coin.
