Scapular Pendant

October 24th, 2012

“Each of these embroidered patch pendants is made by hand, and is embellished with tassels. Inspired by traditional scapulars, each patch carries with it a phrase on the back side. Each pendant comes on a waxed cotton adjustable cord (slip knot slides to size). This particular diamond image is meant to act as an eye to ward off evil.

“The patterns on all of our scapulars have been influenced by American quilts from the deep south, as well as east coast scrimshaw artifacts. Texts are self created as well as borrowed from famous songs and scrimshaw carved phrases that would have been created by love-sick sailors.”
