Items in this category do not meet our usual criteria for “Canadian design” (designed by a Canadian or designed for a Canadian manufacturer/maker). However, it is felt that these items are noteworthy examples of Canadian material culture and we’ve chosen to include them for this reason. Some, like the US ‘War Poster’ provide a unique ‘outsiders’ perspective on Canada, while others such as the “Boss of the Plains” hat have an integral place in Canadian history and culture.
