Every year since 1912, The Calgary Stampede has produced exciting and highly collectible posters, distributed across the prairies to advertise “The Greatest Outdoor show on Earth”. Canada’s largest annual event features an international rodeo competition, midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, and the famous chuck wagon races. The graphic design of each of these posters are fantastic expressions of the era from which they were produced.

Great type – amazing that such an event could pull of so well using “pink.” and when did we drop the “exhibition &” ?

There are over a hundred of the Stampede replica posters along one of the +15s in Calgary. They are organized in a chronological order and the typography on these posters is phenomenal. The stuff from the 70′s is really amazing. If I ever have a spare day I’d love to go down there and catalogue all the posters.

This is one of the memorable posters.

P.s. And what a great idea for a site.

I just can’t believe they convinced a bunch of cowboys to use pink in their poster!
    I love it.

    :P
