Plastic Milk Pitcher
February 27th, 2006
Design:
Manufacturer: GenPak, Division of Spartech Canada, Inc.
Date:
This straightforward plastic jug facilitates the use of plastic milk bags, used in Canada since the 1980′s. This may seem odd; to drink milk from a bag but this system reduces packaging waste by 90% and keeps the milk fresher than other packaging. The jug was available in multiple colour palettes, changing through time (like pastels for the 80′s) and could be custom screened for use by anyone. This simple design was truly innovative and way ahead of its time.

I think just about everyone I know has at least one of these jugs in their house. Truth is I think my family has had one of these things for at least 15 years and counting…. it’s one of those things you only seem to need to buy once in your life because of the durability of the thing.

I am looking to purchase 10000+ pitchers.
However, my customer wants a lidded pitcher similar to something he has seen in Canada.
Can you help?

My friend works for the company who makes the jugs in Canada. They don’t make a lid but they are great. I think they print logos too. It was made by genpak now it’s only made by Hamelin. They are affiliated or something.
Email him at danny@hamelin-ent.com I don’t know what the minimum quantity is but im sure he’ll be glad to help

We have a milk pitcher which is a bit bigger than the usual ones you see in grocery stores. It also has a lid on it, which you slide on from the front.
The Marking on the Bottom are:
ToTson TM
PAT. PENDING & IND. DESIGN REG.
Rd. 1985
M.C. Duffy
MADE IN CANADA towards the handle side.
I am trying to find out where these are made and where they might be able to be purchased, as they are soooo much better than any others I have seen. The milk never spills, as so frequently with the others.

[...] holds the milk bag, but also punctures it and has a lid. I’m must more used to these sort of old school pitchers. We had a yellow one at our house and my grandparents had an orange one. The bag was left exposed [...]

Andy (June 25, 2008) commented on a particular type of milk pitcher that is taller than most and comes with a lid. I, too, have the exact same one that I’ve had 25+ years, which I bought in Tottenham, Ontario, Canada because it was designed and distributed by someone locally (hence the TOTSON logo). And I agree with Andy, in that you’ll never find a better design. I wish they were still in business so I could buy them for my grown kids.
