take that damm commercial off the tv or i may
    never eat broccli again

  • 2. GRAY & SHEILA THOMSON  |  January 19th, 2010 at 13:03

THE COMMERCIALS ARE TERRIBLE – TO THE POINT THAT IF IT WERE NOT ONE OUR FAVORITE VEGETABLES, WE WOULD CONSIDER GIVING IT UP.
COULD YOU NOT FIND SOMEONE A LITTLE MORE INDICATIVE OF CANADIANS??
DID YOU SET OUT TO MAKE US ALL BROWN SKINNED IDIOTS??

    THE THOMSONS

this commercial is an insult to the intellegence of every person and the company that thought it up should be fired and sent packing

if i wanted to be insulted i would go to a comedy club and sit in the front row. i change the channel so as not to watch and if i had a tv that would eliminate commercials all the better then i can choose what i want to see and when…

if this is the best you can come up with then you need to get a life and they should fire you for such and insulting commercial i feel sorry for the poor farmers for i know that people will be turned off by it and not purchace th product.

Why so defensive, dm? Been a while since you ate a vegetable? Keep eating chips while you watch TV, that’ll make you feel better.

  • 5. s.  |  January 22nd, 2010 at 17:11

I’m going to assume you don’t mean that brown skinned people are idiots, because that’s just horrible, or as you would say it TERRIBLE (are you usually this angry?). I enjoy the ads, and don’t understand why you would try to learn more about them only so you can badly express your opinion in a rude way. Getting back to the design of the site (because that is what this site is for), I like the design of the site, it was amazing. I love how this ad is making people (that aren’t “the thompsons”) want to eat healthy food. I’m not saying you deserve no opinion (maybe you don’t like broccoli…?), but maybe you could say it with “CAPS LOCK OFF”, and then we wouldn’t feel like you were screaming. Wow. Broccoli gives you a lot to talk about.

  • 6. s.  |  January 22nd, 2010 at 17:13

I’m sorry, I meant thomson, not thompson (yep, this little brown skinned idiot-who will take offense if that is really what you meant), apologizes for spelling your name wrong. (I actually am sorry, people do this to me all the time)

  • 7. I ANDREWS  |  January 23rd, 2010 at 12:57

Being the 3rd person to ever come to this site and 1st to read you’re little sqwabble…. i feel a little silly saing this but the commerical rocks and is informative… im not sure what skin colour has to do with this but all us WHITE, BROWN and YELLOW people need to be a little more GREEN!

  • 8. Kay Kidwell  |  January 23rd, 2010 at 19:26

Currently I have broccoli in the refrigerator and have been regularly eating the vegetable for many years. I am so appalled by these commercials that I am seriously considering eliminating broccoli from my diet and will sacrifice whatever health and nutritional benefits that will go with it.

    What were you people thinking?

  • 9. Irene Crane  |  January 25th, 2010 at 10:15

This is the most rediculous commercial on TV……I hate it!! Why would you insult the intelligence of broccoli lovers everywhere? You might better take it off the air because viewers are changing channels when it appears anyway. Help out the broccoli farmers and come up with something sensible!!

  • 10. Lucy Wojtowicz  |  January 26th, 2010 at 10:40

I’m glad to see other people are responding with the same feelings I have. Both my daughter (18 years old) and myself (mid 50′s) find this commercial offensive. How dare you compare a vegetable to a person landing without a parachute, or a mother giving birth to 8 babies! Who is your ad agent and who hired him and approved this commercial. They should all be fired! I change channels every time this commercial comes on. Get rid of it. You are not promoting brocolli at all…actually I’m getting turned off. How does your client feel about your advertising.???

  • 11. Lucy Wojtowicz  |  January 26th, 2010 at 10:51

Since when is this commercial about people’s skin color. Can we
please get down to the product and how it is presented. A vegetable has no right being compared to human circumstances!
If you are promoting a product you should promote it’s attributes and benefits as a wholesome product…period!

  • 12. richard eccles  |  January 26th, 2010 at 19:02

The first time I saw the “Miracle Food” commercial with the parachuter et al, I damn near died laughing. I quote, “…shame on you…” damn near cracked me up! That was SO hilarious! The way the 3 guys hung their heads in shame…priceless!!!!!!! If these commercials upset you, you obviously don’t get out enough! Climb out of your cave and live a little.
I have broccoli in my fridge, I will purchase more before the last “green tree” is consumed and in the spring and summer I will grow broccoli plants that are 3 feet high and 3 feet wide and will savor their little florets until the snow flies.
I suspect that these brilliant commercials were created by the same group that created the “Jack-in-box” and the “Capital One” ads.
Keep up the great work, folks and KEEP THEM COMING!!!

  • 13. jr  |  January 27th, 2010 at 08:53

    dm, Kay, Irene and Lucy:

i’m sorry that your intelligence is so sacred. from the sounds of how vulnerable you are to television advertising, i imagine the academic community can live without you.

    get over yourselves!

  • 14. John Ryan  |  January 27th, 2010 at 10:00

It’s an ad for broccoli, everybody ease up or we’ll have to close comments on this post.

  • 15. Jared  |  January 27th, 2010 at 19:42

GOD DAMIT GET THIS INSULT OFF OF THE TV!

  • 16. David Boldt  |  January 28th, 2010 at 12:59

Hey, I love the ad. It’s meant to be “tongue in cheek” and get one”s attention, which it does very well. From the comments posted, it is obvious that some people have no sense of humour or just don’t get it. If this ad causes someone not to eat brocolli because they don’t like the ad…… then all I can say is you’re only hurting yourself. We need more ads like this to grab peoples interest and get them to eat healthy. Carry on the good work!

  • 17. Mrs Suzanne Charter  |  January 28th, 2010 at 14:47

That commercial is enough to make me not want to eat broccoli. I love the stuff, cooked or raw. But that thing is just plain STUPID. I turn it off when it starts now. Please, cease and desist.!!!!
    Thanks

  • 18. roger snow  |  February 1st, 2010 at 08:25

As another person complaining on these commercials,it is great to promote vegetables for healthyy living but you are way of base comparing a fellow falling out of a plane and birth to wonderful food product.Would you go back to your boardroom and reconsider these commericals before you put them on television,

  • 19. marion snow  |  February 1st, 2010 at 11:26

the commerciaol regarding BROCCOLI over the woman having 8 babies is an isult to woman, BROCCOLI is a very important food fine any way to advertize it???

  • 20. Michael & Dianne Brearley  |  February 1st, 2010 at 19:37

Well done, humour is essential. I assume that Terry O’ Reilly? from Radio 1 would approve.

  • 21. Michael & Dianne Brearley  |  February 1st, 2010 at 19:39

Well done. I assume that Terry O’Reilly on Radio 1 would approve of the humour.

  • 22. Inez Anderson  |  February 1st, 2010 at 20:07

We do not suffer your commercials. We mute immediately. There is no humour, and it does not even qualify as sick humour. Am I wrong in reading some racism in the commercials? That would really be bad.

  • 23. Brenda Goodine  |  February 2nd, 2010 at 07:39

It is nice to see that other people are as annoyed as I am by the broccoli commercials. I may never buy broccoli again. Well, at least until after these ad”s are a distant memory.

  • 24. cj  |  February 2nd, 2010 at 13:48

If you are so offended by this that you don’t eat broccoli again, that’s likely the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Seriously. And your spelling is atrocious. I heard broccoli makes you a better speller.

It’s a campaign for a vegetable! And it’s entertaining. Whoever did it gets mad credit it my books just for starting a conversation.

  • 25. Cindy Miller  |  February 2nd, 2010 at 17:24

Broccoli has good taste – unfortunately these Miracle Food commercials don’t. Humour at the expense of people who survived serious accidents or painful labour in giving birth is just an example of how shallow and irrelevant advertising often is. I find these ads a minor irritant and if they are designed to increase sales of broccoli I don’t think they hit the mark. There are other ways to promote this great vegetable and hopefully your next attempt will be more positive

  • 26. Cambren  |  February 2nd, 2010 at 19:03

OMG!!! This makes one never want to eat broccoli ever again..I can’t believe that a company would pay someone for a commercial done so poorly….Sure hope there was no University Degree needed for this commercial…You should be embarrassed and totally ashamed of yourselves putting something this pathetic on as some form of advertisement for a vegetable a good as broccoli…Give your head a shake!!!

  • 27. heather  |  February 2nd, 2010 at 19:35

the commericals suck. I never want to eat it again..

  • 28. ron wella  |  February 2nd, 2010 at 20:12

I find these new ads about brocolli to be both ridicules and offence to the individual’s intellegents. I have not eaten brocolli since these ad and will not until they stop. I would normally eat it 2 to 3 times a week

  • 29. james blaine  |  February 2nd, 2010 at 21:11

worst thing on tv, hate vegitalbes now. thanks stupid

  • 30. Sarita Elman  |  February 3rd, 2010 at 07:37

I love broccoli but I HATE these commercials. If this were a brand-name product, I would boycott it. The entire premise for these ads is skewed and asinine.

  • 31. Chibang  |  February 3rd, 2010 at 10:12

What company or association is behind these commercials? There do not appear to be any references, sponsors or otherwise on their website.

  • 32. Brocoly Eeeter  |  February 3rd, 2010 at 12:08

As a person with Broccoli Affective Disorder, I am simultaneously offended and sexually stimulated by these commercials. For the love of god, stop showing them, but send me a copy!

  • 33. D. McGuigan  |  February 3rd, 2010 at 14:04

Please… We know broccoli is good for us. What is not good for us are the commercials They are without a doubt the most annoying commercials on television. They do not make me want to eat broccoli.

    Thank you

  • 34. rox  |  February 5th, 2010 at 07:52

My fiance’ and I hate the commercials. We change the channel or mute it. I like broccoli, I find the commercials, irritating and insulting. They should get better marketing people to put the commercials together. I don’t blame people for not wanting to buy the product till the commercials are off the air.
The public is too intelligent for ridiculous ads like that.

  • 35. Andy  |  February 5th, 2010 at 13:56

John Ryan, if you don’t want people to post about these awful comercials, then don’t open the post up to comments.

  • 36. Adam D  |  February 6th, 2010 at 20:49

I think it’s a bit over dramatic and overly sensitive to call the commercials offensive but they are certainly the stupidest commercials currently on Canadian television.
I mean, we just get rid of the irritating Grey Power “bad driver lady” and now we have to put up with this tool (and let me note, he would be a tool if he were white, black, brown, yellow, whatever)

  • 37. Ed  |  February 7th, 2010 at 22:18

When i see broccoli in the grocery store i thnk that simpering idot that is in your idiotic comercials. Broccoli is the last vegatable i would purchase.

  • 38. random.  |  February 14th, 2010 at 16:22

    It’s just broccoli.
