RBG Logo

Started as what was essentially a Hamilton roadside beautification project in the 1920s, the Royal Botanical Gardens has evolved into an agency devoted to promoting public understanding of the relationship between the plant world, humanity and the rest of nature. Now occupying nearly 3,000 acres of land throughout Hamilton, Burlington and Flamborough in Southern Ontario, RBG has become one of Canada’s largest mixed cultivated and managed natural areas.

In the early seventies the province of Ontario implemented Outreach Ontario funding for cultural agencies, allowing the RBG to formalize and expand its outreach efforts with a number of new programs; one of which was the revitalization of the RBG identity. Seemingly simple in execution, yet clearly well thought out, the logo depicts the interweaving of flora and fauna that makes the Gardens the valuable resource it is.

    Wonderful site you have here.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the Royal Botanical Gardens logo.
This RBG logo was actually designed by my mother, Florence Mathur, while working as an industrial designer for a Hamilton architectural firm, Prack Partners.
Reading the post and comments has made my day. Thanks.
