I grew up spending a very brief time in the Boy Scouts and was completely addicted to the idea of earning merit badges. From archery to wood carving, the badges were snapshots of achievement and were the souvenirs of successful participation. I was glad to find out that the Canadian Girl Guides also use patches and that they had their own distinct vernacular (I do not remember earning a badge for trading patches!). I found a hidden treasure of these old Girl Guide badges so brace yourselves for more posts on them.

Actually, I think this is probably not an “earned” badge… I remember that they used to have special badges that they’d give and you’d put on your camp hat or whatnot (“#1 Cookie Seller!”, “I Survived Camp!”).

This most likely isn’t an official Girl Guide or Girl Scout badge. These were created on a yearly basis by an outside party for people who swapped badges over the internet.

An offical Girl Guide Bage like this would have a trefoil ( A three leaf clover in a box) on it.

This is not an official Girl Guide badge. This patch was created by patch co (www.patchco.com) and was used for a patch trading online group. I happen to have one of these on my patch blanket.
