Royal Wedding Commemorative Stamp (2011)

April 28th, 2011

Design: Isabelle Toussaint
Client: Canada Post
Date: 2011
Approved by the Queen herself, these Royal Wedding Commemorative stamps will be issued on April 29, the actual wedding day of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Interestingly, there was not a stamp issued, despite all the hype, for Charles and Diana’s wedding. The last Canada Post stamp commemorating a royal wedding was issued in 1948 to honour of the nuptials of the Queen and Prince Philip, the current groom’s grandparents. I suppose this has something to do with the certainty that William will eventually be King and his first born, the next heir to the throne.
