International Year of Forests Stamp

April 26th, 2011

Design: Subplot, Matthew Clarke
Client: Canada Post
Date: 2011

Created to celebrate the United Nation’s International Year of Forests, the stamp is a reminder of how forests have influenced and defined the Canadian experience. We have much to celebrate, we still have forests to admire.

This is a simply gorgeous stamp! I would venture to say majestic.

The Canada Post site has some interesting background on the UN designation of the “Year of the Forests” and the thinking behind the design: http://www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/personal/collecting/stamps/2011/2011_international_year_of_forests.jsf

So why does this stamp have Amanita Muscaria on it? I know we don’t put lickable glue on stamps anymore but is this symbolic design of something you might want to lick?! :-)
